What’s Inside: OliveM 1000

One of Essentique’s hallmarks is the fact that all of products are formulated, mixed, and bottled in our in-store lab. Creating custom formulations using all-natural ingredients can be challenging. So here’s a little insight into the formulation process through one unique ingredient, OliveM 1000. 

OliveM 1000 is an oil-in-water emulsifier, meaning it helps combine liquids like oil and water that would normally repel one another. This creates emulsions that can be used in moisturizers, serums, essences, and much more. OliveM consists of cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, fatty acids derived from natural olive chemistry. Interestingly, these fatty acids are similar in composition to the lipids on the skin’s surface, so they reduce the possibility of irritation and increase compatibility. This ingredient is safe and clinically proven to be hypoallergenic. OliveM also serves as a natural thickener, helping natural creams achieve that satisfying spreadability without a soapy effect. It’s also highly moisturizing, and great at promoting the delivery of active ingredients into the epidermis. And, obviously, it’s plant-based and biodegradable.
