who washes hair with apple?!

, ,

Essentique’s For-bitten hair wash is a customer favorite, loved for its fresh apple scent and gentle cleansing. It might surprise you to learn that its cleansing power also comes from apple!

Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids, or apple surfactant, as it’s more commonly known, is For-bitten’s secret ingredient. Obtained via acylation of amino acids from apple juice, apple surfactant is an odorless, clear to light yellow light liquid with a neutral pH. While the name might sound like some obscure artificial ingredient, it’s actually completely natural. Surfactants help water grip onto dirt and grease, break it up, and wash it away. At Essentique, we primarily use surfactants that come from fruits and coconut.

We love apple surfactant because it’s extremely mild, but still gets the job done. It’s gently-foaming and powers through buildup in your hair, but it doesn’t strip the hair of its natural oils or irritate the eyes. As a bonus, apple surfactant is also sulfate- and preservative-free, as well as biodegradable.

For-bitten truly uses apple in every way: apple fruit water, juice, extract, and surfactant. Even though you can’t smell the apple surfactant, we love knowing that that extra bit of thought went into the creation of For-bitten. Try it for yourself to experience the good that apple surfactant will do for your hair!
