Excel with Eggcel

Easter is just around the corner: do you have your eggs ready? Have you gotten any big chocolate eggs? Do you have enough plastic eggs to fill with candy and hide in your yard for the kids? Have you boiled and dyed your eggs? And have you cracked a raw egg in your hair recently?

Wait, what? Yes, you heard me right: have you cracked a raw egg in your hair recently? If you’re getting uncomfortable flashbacks to Ramona Quimby, Age 8, don’t worry, you’re not alone. When I was in elementary school, I loved reading Beverly Cleary’s books about Ramona Quimby, and out of all the crazy scenes in those books, the one I remember most after ten years is the one where Ramona ends up with egg in her hair after cracking what she thought was a hard-boiled egg (but was actually raw) on her head to be like the other kids. She is horribly embarrassed, and it is a mess for everyone to clean up.

So, when I first heard Mondonna talking about Eggcel, a shampoo made with egg, I immediately flashed back to that scene and was more than a bit uncomfortable. I couldn’t imagine why anyone would willingly put egg in their hair. But as I learned more about it, and heard the rave reviews people gave, I began to understand.

It turns out that egg is actually really good for your hair. It’s full of protein, which leaves your hair strong and lustrous. It’s nourishing and conditioning, and helps your hair retain moisture. Plus, Eggcel also contains blue agave and biotin liposome, which work together to make your hair softer and fuller.

So, although I’m not saying you should crack a raw egg on your head in front of all your peers, maybe Ramona was onto something. Take a page out of her book, and see what Eggcel can do to make your hair soft and shiny for Easter!
