Over the past 3 weeks I have been testing out Essentique’s brand new facial wash, Clair. When I heard that it was specifically formulated for acne prone teen skin I was so eager to try out in hopes that I will maybe finally find my holy grail cleanser. I have tried out many brands and products in my quest to find the perfect daily cleanser but none of them have seemed just right thus far. One was too gentle, another was too harsh, some were too stripping, and others seemed to do nothing at all. When I started trying Clair I felt like what I imagine Goldilocks must have when she finally found her perfect bowl of just right porridge.
I would describe my perfect cleanser as one that removes all the built up residue and dead skin from my pores while still remaining gentle enough that I can use it twice a day without stripping the natural oils from my skin. I also look for some acne or blemish fighting capability considering my skin is fairly acne prone and I have some left over scarring. Clair checks all these boxes for me and I have seen considerable differences after using it regularly. I notice I am less prone to break-outs and my scarring has slightly faded. I also have normal to dry skin and even though Clair works to balance oily skin, I find it complements my dryer texture because it isn’t harsh or stripping.
As a working student I rarely have time to indulge my skin the way I want to. I have always kept my routine fairly simple and fast, using only a cleanser, a moisturizer, and an SPF on a daily basis. Occasionally I pamper myself with a face mask, some oils, or a serum but I believe simple is always better when it comes to your skin. However, this means the products I do use must be effective and just luxurious enough to give me the touch of self care I need every day. Clair is great for a touch of luxury because of it’s soft scent and silky feel. Clair’s aroma is light and fresh with a touch of herbal citrus. I don’t enjoy strong scents in my skin care and this facial wash is just strong enough to give me that spa feel without being overpowering. Not to mention the packaging is beautiful so it looks great sitting on my counter and gets me excited to start my skin care routine.
However, just because Clair is just right for me might not mean it will work in the same way for you. Skin care is so personal that I believe you have to try products out to know for sure how they will affect you. If you find yourself intrigued by Clair, stop by the boutique or the online store and pick up a bottle to try out. You never know, you might just find your just right cleanser.
